1. Tools & Parts

Tools Required:

  • Power drill
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Torx drivers
  • Allen wrenches
  • Flush cutters
  • Zip ties

Included Parts:

  • WH‑SBB 2‑channel speaker wire harness
  • 4‑pin amplifier service disconnect
  • Saddlebag harnesses (left & right)
  • Lid speaker service disconnect
  • Chrome wire caps (for saddlebag entry)
  • 6 wire cap Phillips screws

2. Installation Steps

Step 1 — Remove Components

Remove the seat, gas tank, outer fairing, both saddlebags, and both side covers.
Reason: Provides full access to the backbone and wire routing areas.

Step 2 — Connect Amplifier Service Disconnect

[Figure 2]

Connect the 4‑wire amplifier service disconnect to the amplifier’s rear channel outputs.
Reason: This creates a quick‑release interface for future service.
See [Figure 3].

Note: Wire ferrules are pre‑installed; match colors to the amplifier’s output wiring.

See [Figure 4]
Amplifier service disconnect wire color assignment.

Optional Configuration (No Amplifier):
If the system uses the factory radio output directly, plug the backbone harness into the radio’s 4‑pin rear speaker output connector instead.
See [Figure 5].

Step 3 — Route Backbone Harness

Route the Y‑shaped harness from the amplifier location inside the fairing down the bike’s backbone, following the factory wire harness.

  • Position the Y‑junction near the end of the plastic wire channel on the frame near the battery compartment.
  • Zip tie in place and pull all slack forward into the fairing.
  • Use zip ties to secure to factory wire harnesses up front near the frame neck as well.

Left Side (Clutch Side):

  • Route the 2‑pin female connector (White & Green wires) around the front of the battery compartment, through the fuse panel under the clutch‑side cover.
  • Position near the factory diagnostic connectors and tie in place. See [Figures 6, 7].
Reason: Prevents wire movement and contact with hot/moving components.

[Figure 6]

[Figure 7]

Tip: Temporarily unclip the alarm module to ease harness routing.
⚠ Warning: Do not route wires over the top of the frame; always follow factory harness paths.

Step 4 — Route Right‑Side Harness

Route and secure the 2‑pin connector (Red & Black wires) on the brake‑side of the bike.
Position and tie it near the
ABS pump.
Reason: Prevents excess slack and ensures clearance from suspension and exhaust components.
See [Figures 6, 7].

Note: The blue arrow in figure 7 shows how the saddlebag wire harness will be routed out of the bag and connected to the backbone harness. This wire harness intentionally is routed downward and angled slightly back in order to create a service loop. This service loop keeps tension on the harness but also leaves some amount of slack so that the bag can be unbolted and leaned away from the bike when removing the side panels and disconnecting from the bike.

Step 5 — Prepare Saddlebag Entry

[Figure 8]

(a) Drill a 1/2 in hole, 2 in back and 3 in up from the bottom front corner of each saddlebag.
Reason: Provides a clean, safe, low‑visibility wire entry point.

(b) Thread the white 2‑pin connector through the hole and install the chrome wire cap.
(c) Pre‑drill
3/32 in pilot holes for the cap fasteners. See [Figure 9].

[Figure 9]

(d) Adjust harness length so ~14 in of wire exits the bag. Test fit on bike and modify as needed.Reason: Ensures correct slack for connection without excess wire exposure.

Step 6 — Route Inside Saddlebag

[Figure 10]

Route the wire harness inside the saddlebag from the front entry hole, looping around the rear of the bag and forward to the hinge side.
Reason: Keeps wiring hidden and clear of cargo.
Note: Route the harness under the lid tether at the lid hinge area for a secure, factory‑style appearance.

Step 7 — Connect Lid Speakers

[Figure 11]

Connect the speaker quick‑disconnect pigtails to the lid speaker connectors.
Reason: Provides simple lid/speaker removal and ensures correct polarity when reconnecting.
Note: These service disconnects allow lid removal without rewiring and reduce risk of polarity errors.

3. Verification & Testing

  1. Reconnect the battery and power on the system.
  2. Verify that both left and right rear speakers produce audio.
  3. Wiggle the saddlebag connectors gently; ensure audio does not cut out.
  4. Confirm all harnesses are tied away from exhaust, belt, and suspension components.

Note: If using an amplifier, confirm that the rear channels are correctly assigned to the left and right saddlebag outputs.

4. Troubleshooting

Symptom

Likely Cause

Fix

No sound from rear speakers

Loose or unplugged connector

Check backbone and saddlebag disconnects

Weak and hollow sound quality

One speaker reversed polarity

Inspect for reversed speaker connection at the speakers or at the amplifier connection up front

Intermittent sound

Harness strain or poor zip tie placement

Inspect for slack or pinched wire
